Al Hilal defeated Al Wehda 4-2 today at King Abdul Aziz Stadium in week 23 of the Saudi Professional League and jumped to the top of the league table.
Fllowing today’s victory, Al Hilal reached 45 points and shared the first position with Al Shabab, who have the same number of points. While Al Wehda reached the 14the position with 27 points.
The game started with a high pace as both teams were keen to score the opener early.
In the 9the minute, Al Wehda managed to score the first goal of the game, but it was disallowed due to an offside.
However, Al Wehda took the early lead in the 15the minute, as Youssouf Niakate scored from an impressive screamer.
In the 35th minute, Bafetimbi Gomis equalised the score. Al Hilal then managed to double the score, as Luciano Vietto netted the second goal to make the result 2-1.
The thrilling first half did not end in that result, as the referee awarded Al Wehda a penalty kick in the 40the minute.
Niakate baged the ball in the back of Al Hilal’s net to equalize the score.
The second half kicked off and Gomis’s moment of glory came in the 54th minute, as Salem Al Dawsari delieverd a cross, in which Gomis’s header sent it to the net to make the result 3-2.
Al Hilal dominated the rest of the game and in the 77the minute, Gomis visited Al Wehda’s net for the third time to score an impressive hat-trick and to lead his team to the top of the league table.
